The Coach and Horses in Rickmansworth, dates back to at least 1722It was a prominent 18th-century coaching inn closely tied to the local Salter's family Brewery. Samuel Salter purchased the pub in 1741, with it serving as a key brewing site and travellers' stop. It was known for having a "bell under the eaves" to summon the landlord - for late night visitors

The building itself is thought to have foundations dating back as far as the late 16th century, though it's documented history as an inn begins in the early 1700s. It was a key location for the local area, especially with nearby orchards, such as the cherry orchard, that were managed by the pub.
It was part of a network of coaching inns serving travellers and locals during the 1700s, often acting as a key stop for coaches operating in the region.
